 Dawgs Finish Strong; Playoffs Next
The Pop Warner B-Team finished of it's regular season with a strong showing against East Lynn winning 23-0. The defense as it has been all year was very strong led by Pat Bailey, J Michael Nardella, Nathan Verry and Jared Kusiak. "This is a group of players that just keep coming at you, they all want to make the big hit" said Coach Bailey.
Beverly got on the board early with hard running by Nardella and Bailey, with Nardella getting around end for six. The "Kuz" kicked the extra point to give Beverly the 8-0. The swarming Beverly D forced a fumble early in the second quarter, with JP Kehoe scooping up the loose ball taking in 80 yards for what looked to be six more. But there was a flag on the play that put the ball on the Lynn 40.  Two plays later Bailey went up the middle for 35 yards and 6 points. The Kuz added the extra point putting Beverly up 16-0. "That penalty could of really hurt us. The team was pretty upset, but you have to give them credit they got their composure back and put the ball in the end zone" said Coach Nardella.
Late in the half Lynn seemed to be putting together a scoring drive when the Lynn QB broke around end and seemed on his way to 6 when he was dragged down from behind by Nardella.  " Scarecrow  (J) wasn't going to let  him score, you could just see it. It was a great effort on his part" said Coach Belmonte. Two plays later Lynn fumbled and Beverly took control. Andrew  Frates and the "White O" ran their version of the 2 minute drill moving the ball nicely." David Jones ran very well and Frates leadership played a big part in the drive. But I had wasted a time out and we ran out of time" said coach Nardella.
The Offensive line seemed to welcome the return of Jake MacNeill as they had a very solid showing. It the third quarter Bailey and Nardella followed the big boys up the field on another scoring drive, with Nardella scoring his second of the day. "Coach Richardson's O line did a great job blowing open some holes for us today" said J Michael. The work of Belmonte, McAniff, Provencher, Rinaldo, Lawler, MacNeill and Verry made the difference today. One of the highlights of the day came when Nick Traicoff made his first catch of his career. "It  was a juggling falling down two yard pass it was ugly, but it did not matter to Nick he was thrilled" said Coach Nardella. " It was nice to see a boy that has works hard all year get his chance to shine" said the coach.
This team has worked hard and has stuck together all season. "after losing to Triton  the boys seemed to come together and played with a purpose." said Coach Nardella.   "The loss of Dylan Kline has been hard to over come. We don't have one player that can replace Dylan he does so much. But what we miss most is his presence on the field.  A lot of the kids look to him as a leader and that something that you can't replace!!
