C-Dawgs Number One In Eastern Mass

A total TEAM effort was the key to the win that clinched the Eastern  Mass title for the Beverly Pop Warner C team. From the opening drive that  Pat (Champ) Bailey capped off with a 40 yard run for a score. To the last  play where Dylan other stopped Burlington while the rest of  the team was celebrating 8 second early. "The boys had a goal and that's all that matter today they made a statement" said coach Richardson.   The boys where a little pumped for this and made some mistakes early  but once they settle in they played good, smart Beverly football!  Pat  Bailey opened the scoring. The line made a hole and Pat was off. 'It does not take much of a hole for him he can out run a car "said the coach. " The  highlight of the drive was the return of Jared Kusiak after 4 weeks off due to a broken arm. Jared came in and kicked the extra point. The team was thrilled to have Jared back and when he kicked the ball through the uprights they where off the wall. Jared is a captain and a leader it's nice to have him back" said coach Nardella.     The Blue D started the game and shut down the Burlington squad. JD Martz played his best game of the year at his end position. Nathan Verry was like a rock in the middle of the field. "It's hard to name names at this point. Defense has to be played by every one for it to work. Some players standout more than others but if one person messes up no one stands
out. it is a team effort " said the coach. "We have 33 players on this
team and 32 off them played on the D" said coach Nardella. "It was nice to see every one playing a part in the win."
The second score came just before the end of the half with Triple J doing his Walter Payton act dancing all over the field and into the end zone. "Jeff is a first year player that has improved his game every week" said coach MacNeil "it's nice to see his hard work pay off" Beverly led at half 13-0 .
The second half started with Kline booming another kickoff pinning Burlington deep in their own end and a D that had no interest in letting them out. "Burlington played hard and was a good team but these guys just had a goal and nothing was going to stop them " said Nardella. After the D did it's job for three plays Burlington was forced to punt. Jake MacNeil came up the middle and blocked the punt giving Beverly the ball on the 25. Jason Fullerton called a "26 cross buck" and moments later J Michael Nardella was in the end zone. "At half Jason and J  asked me to call that play, they promised me that it would work and they where right" said the coach. After that the Orange O sat down and the White took over for the rest off the game.
The White O moved the ball with confidence, they came off the ball as a team without question the best game of the year for them" said coach Nardella. The backs ran hard and hit the holes they could not be stopped.  Triple J score for the second time and Roo Richardson crossed the goal line for the first time this season to get the extra point. "Roo was so excited he could not talk" said a proud dad and coach Richardson.
