C-Dawgs Capture NE Championship Jason Fullerton threw two TD passes and Patrick Bailey ran for two scores as the Beverly Pop Warner C-Dawgs won the New England Level-C Title by defeat- ing Dighton-Rehoboth, 32-19, Saturday morning at Coventry R.I. High School. It was Beverly's eleventh straight win since an opening day 2-0 loss to Everett. The game's biggest play came in the final seconds of the first half. With the Dawgs pinned deep in their own territory, leading by a touchdown, Fullerton con- nected with J Nardella on a 92-yard pass play to give Beverly a comfortable margin at the half. Fullerton also hit Matthew McNiff for a 50-yard score, while John Paul Kehoe provided another long TD with a 60-yard jaunt. Nardella and Steve Hutchinson (shoot, maybe it was Sean) provided conversion runs as Beverly was able to out gun a potent Dighton-Rehoboth offense that featured an almost unstoppable back. Dylan Kline was awarded the game ball. The C-Dawgs arrived in Rhode Island on Friday afternoon around 3:00. The kids did some swimming, had a pizza party, and enjoyed the premises at the beautiful Crown Plaza Hotel in Warwick. A Friday night fire alarm at the hotel did not help in preparing for Saturday's 8:00 A.M. kickoff. |
