Beverly Pop Warner "C" Team |
| "D"
Keys Beverly To Win Over Peabody The Pop Warner C team recorded it's third straight win and third shut out in a row! The game lived up to all the hype as both teams stood toe to toe and slugged it out. Peabody was the first to make a mistake as the Peabody back tried to sweep left, that was their first mistake as Dylan Kline, J Nardella and Nathan Verry where there waiting for him. Verry's hit knocked the ball free and Kline picked the ball up on the bounce and let his legs do the rest as he went 60 yards for 6 points. Ben Lawler pulled in a pop pass from Jason Fullerton to make the score 7-0 Beverly! That was the only scoring for Beverly but it was all they needed as the "Dog Pound Defense" put up a show for the ages! Nardella played his best defensive game of the year making tackles from sideline to sideline. Kline and Verry ran a close second in tackles with both chalking up a couple of sacks! Fullerton had an outstanding day turning in all the Peabody sweep attempts to be finished off by the high flying Andrew Frates and Jared (Wild Dog) Kusiak. Peabody then tried to go over Beverly but when their QB was not running from Sam Newman and (Hit Dog) Jeff Jones the deep backs Sean Mitchell, JP Kehoe and Pat Bailey where there to knock it down or make the hit. "It was a total effort on the defensive side of the ball even the Blue D came up big on a 4th and short with Billy Sullivan and Rob McGinnity making the big stop!" said Coach Richardson. On the other side of the ball things were not going as smoothly but when we needed a play we did what we had to do. It was not pretty but it was effective. On a 3rd and long late in the 4th quarter from the Beverly 10 Nardella broke one of tackle for 12 yards and a key first down. "That was a huge play for us without that Peabody gets the ball back with 3:30 left to play," said coach Nardella. Another big key where the long snaps of Kline who did a great job getting the ball back to Kusiak for the punts. "That's not an easy job at any level." Once again the Frates-led "White O" moved the ball with Jones and Rew Richardson doing the bulk of the work. Sean Deady threw a nice block helping to spring Jones around end for a first down! Zac Anderson also played his best game with the white team. Matt Savage of Peabody had a strong over all game running a few nice bootlegs and playing some solid D at the outside linebacker spot. The one down side to the day was the lack of playing time for some of the players, but coach Nardella promises to change that this week as both the "White O" and the "Blue D" will start this week in Lynn. "This team is made up of 33 players and they all work hard so it only seems fair that they all get a chance to start. Both teams will play as long as they are playing well and hard!" |

William
Sullivan (left) and Robert McGinnity teamed up to make a key stop on a Peabody fourth-and-short situation as Beverly topped the previously undefeated Tanners for their third straight win. William and Robert are part of a defense that has yet to be scored upon during the first four weeks of the 2000 season. The C team is on the road again this week as they play at West Lynn. |
