Beverly Pop Warner "C" Team |
| C-DAWGS Hang Witches for North Shore Title and Playoff Berth - Jake MacNeill Beverly came out pumped and ready to hang the witches of Salem. We lost the coin toss for the first time in six weeks. That was O.K. because we had the wind at our back as Dylan Kline booted the ball deep into Salem territory. The kick was covered nicely. Out came the Blue "D", who've stated every game this year. Salem was stuffed with tackles by J. Michael Nardella, Dylan Kline, Justin Russo, Rob McGinnity, Nathan Very and the rest of the Blue "D". Out came the Orange offense a 35 cross buck was called. Some nice blocks were thrown by Jake Mac Neill, Rich Blazo, Matt Provencher, and Andrew Belmonte. Beverly fumbled on the play and Salem recovered. The Blue "D" came out and stuffed Salem's offense again. The key tackles were by T.J. Gansenberg and Kerk Soursourian . The Orange "O" came out and fumbled again on the second play from scrimmage. The Black "D" came out onto the field with key tackles by Jason Fullerton and Andrew Frates. Salem was forced to give up the ball on downs. Onto the field came the Orange "O". They stalled and with a fourth and fifteen Pat Bailey went around the left end for a twenty five yard gain. The run set up the twenty-six cross buck for J. Michael Nardella to score the first touchdown of the game. A pass to Sean Mitchell added the extra point. Beverly 7 Salem 0 The next score came when a Salem runner went around the end for what looked to be a long gain. He was tackled by J Michael Nardella and fumbled the ball. J.P. or is it "TD" Kehoe picked-up the loose ball and raced over fifty yards for the games second score. Pat Bailey raced around the end for the Extra point. Beverly 14 Salem 0 The "Dawgs" kicked-off again and the defense held. The white offense drove the ball to the Salem 15 and lost the ball on a fumble. The drive had some nice runs by Andrew "Roo" Richardson, Steve and Sean Hutchinson and Jeff "Triple J" Jones. We went into the locker room with a small cushion Beverly 14 Salem 0. The second half was highlighted with a touchdown run by Jeff "Triple J" Jones. That was the nail in the coffin for Salem. The extra point failed. The offense started having fun by allowing some of the older players to run the ball. They were Rob McGinnity, Nathan Very, and Jake MacNeill. Andrew Frates never came out of the huddle as time clicked off the clock. Beverly walked away more than victorious but as NORTH SHORE CHAMPIONS and a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Next Sunday we'll take on Cambridge. "Bring it on City Boys" - by Jake MacNeill |
