Beverly Pop Warner "C" Team

                             Beverly Dominates Swampscott
(September 24, 2000)
The Pop Warner C Team came up with their  second victory in as many weeks by shutting out the Big Blue of Swampscott 18-0.   It was Beverly's second shut out  in three games. The only points the team has given up came on a safety in game one!  As well as the defense played coach Nardella was more impressed with the play of the offensive line Dylan Kline, Rich Blazo, Jake McNeil, Matt Provencher, Andrew Belmonte Matt McNiff and Ben Lawler blew open some holes that even he could have run thru.  "The Line was the key" said Nardella "they set the tone for the day."  The play of the white offense was also impressive.  The kids on that group have come a long way  John Aiken and Mike Zullo are really coming off the ball well and work together nicely!
Jason Fullerton was throwing well he hit on 4 of six passes the key one was  a diving catch by J Michael Nardella on a fourth and 10 to keep the first scoring drive alive.   JP Kehoe finished off the drive with a nice run around end for 6. After the "D" shut down Swampscott for the second time, the White team took over led by Andrew Richardson and "triple J"   Jeff Jones who took the ball the last 5 yards of a nice 50 yard drive to make the score 12-0.
The last score for Beverly came at the start of the  fourth quarter when on fourth and 10 JP Kehoe when 40 yards on reverse to end the scoring. JP's run was a thing of beauty as he was hit behind the line and broke several  tackles and took it in!
The "D" was great for the third week in a row!  Once again Kline led the  team in tackles, followed by Nardella and Nathan Verry. Fullerton, Jared Kusiak and Andrew Frates  had two sacks.   The Hit of the day belong to Jones who broke thru the line and send the Swampscott ball carrier into a new zip code.   Justin Russo who has to be the smallest nose tacke on any Pop Warner team had three solo tackles. "Over all it was a great effort on every ones part! They are really coming together as a team," said Nardella. First place Peabody is on tap for this week. "The team will be up for this one" said the coach." One of Peabody's stars is Matt Savage who once played in the Beverly  program for me and I'm sure some of his old friends will have a special greeting for Matt." Beverly  vs Peabody is always a good game!

 Ben Lawler (left), and Matt
 Provencher played big roles
 in Beverly's 18-0 victory over
 Swampscott.  Ben and Matt
were part of an offensive line
 that dominated the Big Blue,
 opening big holes for the
 Beverly running backs.  The
 3-1 Panthers return to
 action Sunday with a game
 at West Lynn.  Beverly
 plays the following three
 weeks at home against
 Triton, East Lynn, and Salem.
