Beverly Sends East Lynn Home With Loss

- by John Paul Kehoe

East Lynn came into Beverly thinking they were going to beat Beverly easily.  East Lynn had a 4-2 record coming into the game, but walked out 4-3.  The first time Beverly got the ball they marched it down to the 10, but East Lynn got the ball back on a fumble recovery. The Beverly "D"  crushed the East Lynn ball carrier in the end zone for a safety.  Beverly got the ball again but turned it over on another fumble.  This time East Lynn drove down the field to the 20.On a sweep play the ball carrier for East Lynn  was caught in a clump of black
Beverly jersey . When the ref threw a flag all of the Beverly tacklers let go of the runner and he went around the end for a TD.  It was the first touchdown scored on the "D" this season. The score remained the same until the half.  Beverly kicked off to East Lynn to start the half.  East Lynn turned the ball over on downs and Beverly took advantage.  Coach Nardella called for a sweep play to Pat Bailey and once he gets outside there's no way to catch him. That wasn't the only touchdown of the day.  The "D" stuffed East Lynn and Beverly got the ball back on a punt, but there was no need for the offense to go onto the field 'cause J Michael Nardella returned the punt 60 yards for a  touchdown.  Again Beverly got the ball back and gave a sweep to the  hard hitting Jeff "Triple J" Jones, who broke a tackle and galloped to the end zone for six.  The "D" stuffed East Lynn for the rest of the game with some  bone crushing hits by "Triple J", J Michael Nardella, Nathan Verry and Dylan  Kline.  The run of the day went to #14 Sean Hutchinson, that set up the go ahead touchdown.  Beverly got their 6th straight win. They will take on Salem next Sunday for their seventh.
