Beverly Pop Warner "C" Team Player Story |
|
Beverly was Hot Today,
The weather however was not! The Panther C-team came to Hurd Stadium ready to play some football. The 6-1 Beverly team was ready to face their rivals, the Salem Witches and was not to disappoint the crowd. The C-team came out losing their first toss of the year, but would make up for it. The witches took control of the first possession unable to move the ball well only getting one first down and were forced to a turnover. That’s when it started. The orange O was out there ready to play, in this SNOWING weather and that would cause some problems as the ball was as hard as a rock and Beverly fumbled and Salem regained possession. However it was just as cold as on Beverly’s side as was Salem’s and the witches would later fumble on their second possession with the ball. As Beverly regained focus the orange O came out and moved the ball down field with nice sweeps by Pat Bailey and J Michael Nardella. Later the next play Nardella plowed in for 6 and got Beverly on the board. "I was tempted to do the dance (monkey dance I made up in practice) but went over to Dylan Kline and just laughed. Dylan Kline, Nathan Verry, Jason Fullerton and Andrew Frates took control of the defense and made some bone crunching hits. Late in the second quarter J. Michael Nardella popped a kid hard and sent him to the ground but before landing fumbled the ball, and then it was JP "TD" Kehoe’s turn. JP is known for his lighting fast moves and his quickness on the open field and showed them all today. JP went almost 70 yards for the TD with no one close by to even try and get him. "As soon as I saw JP get the ball, I knew it was six more for the panthers" said coach Nardella. There isn’t much to talk about in the second half just good solid football on both ends. "Triple J" Jones, had a real nice carry and put on another 6 for the panthers. Jeff really showed Salem who was boss today with several nice tackles and a spectacular run for the touchdown. Roo Richardson also had a big game and really hit the holes hard. Roo just missed the end zone today but had his best game running hard through holes, lowering the shoulder and throwing some nice blocks to send JJJ loose around the ends. As the final seconds ticked away 5..4..3..2..1..0 !!!!!!! The panthers had won the North Shore league Championship and were heading to the playoffs. After the game there was a nice celebration honoring Dan McKenna and Mike Romani who have announced their retirement. They were given a shirt which all the kids received too saying "C-Dawgs" and were congratulated with the prize of pizza and cokes in celebrating their championship win. NICE JOB TODAY GUYS !!!!!!!!!!! J. Michael Nardella Special congratulation to the North Shore League champions last year who came and conquered once again this year Jared Kusiak Jason Fullerton Andrew Frates Sean and Steve Hutchinson Ben Lawler JP Kehoe Dylan Kline Matt Provencher Andrew Richardson J.
