Beverly Pop Warner "C" Team Player Story |
|
Beverly Prevails
On Sunday, October 8, 2000 the Beverly Panther "C" team
came to West Lynn and was ready to play some football. Beverly started
off the game with a nice job fielding the ball by Ben Lawler. There were
some terrific carries by Jeff Jones and Andrew Richardson to drive the
ball nicely but they couldn’t quite reach the end zone. However, the
Panther defense came out and played one of their best games. Tackles by
Nathan Verry, Dylan Kline, J. Michael Nardella, and Jared Kusiak helped
the Beverly team stop the Rams and forced them to a turnover. The white
offense came out and once again drove the ball well but still couldn’t
reach the end zone. The defense worked hard making the rams unable to
move the yard markers. After the nice defensive job, out came the orange
offense making the yard markers move downfield. Carries by Jared Kusiak
and J. Michael Nardella moved the ball wonderfully and the line blocked
out of their minds. The great blocking of Dylan Kline, Matt Provencher,
Jake McNeil and Ben Lawler on the right side worked nicely together to
open holes. After nice sweeps by Nardella and Kusiak, Beverly called for
the 3-5 cross buck pass, and what a play. Jason Fullerton rolled out of
the pocket and threw a bullet to the outstretched Nardella for a big 1st
and goal opportunity. After this pass another strike was thrown to Ben
Lawler for 6. Jeff Jones made the extra point with a great run on a nice
carry. And once again the strong panther defense showed why they were
known throughout the North Shore. Dylan Kline really clocked a kid for a
loss of 2 yards and the defensive line played well. A nice hit by Rob
McGinity set the ball in a third and long situation. The rams showed
pass but Nathan Verry came up big with a nice sack forcing them to
fourth down. After the fake punt was shut down, the panther offense came
out with just under 30 seconds but the seconds were precious. The first
play was a nice run by Kusiak and then came the blazing speed of J.P.
Kehoe. The 4-9 reverse was outstanding leading J.P. completing the
forty-yard touchdown run to end the half.
